So what if it is a little early for talking about this trip. I just came in from the garage after working on the ZJ that needs to go wheeling bad.

WHAT:
Grand Slam - Mid West
WHERE:
Badlands Off-road Park, Attica Indiana
WHO:
Any one who wants to attend! You are encouraged to bring a Grand Cherokee, this year we had an XJ and TJ come along as well. In the future when this event gets more attention, there might need to be some restrictions. However that is a long way off.
WHEN: This year we had it the third weekend in May, (the 20th, and 21st)
However for 2007 plan on it for the second weekend in May, the 11th, 12th, and 13th. This will give a little more time in between to those planning on attending GSW. This date is not permanent as of yet, just a good estimate to get the ball rolling.

Info for Badlands:

Places to stay:

The Attica Inn
http://www.theatticainn.com/
-it is a nice place, be sure to mention the Badlands for the discount. The Inn is within 2 miles of the park. Parking lot wrenching friendly as well. They do ask you not to use the bath towels to clean your vehicles. (for real!)

The Badlands Campground
http://www.atticacamping.com/
-nice campground located on the property of the park near the entrance. This is where we had the cookout, which will happen again!

Those are the only two that I have personally been to. The campground is only $7 a person per night, which is pretty cheap, yet still a nice campground.

More places to stay can be found here:

2007 will be different than this past trip. We will split into at least two groups and run different levels of trails. All groups will run the creek trail, which is a fun trail. Those leading the trails will have a set plan and there will be less unplanned wandering. The trail map is lousy so having someone who knows their way around the park is key, which is precisely what is in store for next year.

Sounds good. I stayed at the attica campground last time I was down there. It's nice but they were not allowing any drinking to be going on.

Stay at the Attica Inn, they don't care.

I have never been to any kind of event before. Do you think this would be good for a first timer? Also, what kind of set up should I have. Any mandatory equipment you'd suggest? I really want to go but Im not sure what all I will need to do.

The only mandadory item you should have is tow point front and rear

Well after Im finished with my rear bumper I will have that covered. But I figures that was probly something I would need.

You'll be happier if you have skids and sliderz.

Sounds good. Lockers? I was gonna lock my axles but with 33's curretnly I dont want to do it on my stock shafts cause I know they'll snap. I dont have the cash to get 30 spline axles too so I'll have to wait for summer on that one.

I saw the initial dates are on the weekend of 5/12/07 and a potential to move to 5/19/07. Later would be better I have a final exam on Sat 5/12. So if it is early I'm not going.
