Add a Drop Down Monitor

This is how-to reinforce your roof to hold the weight of a flip down media monitor. My vehicle is a 95 Limited, but the technique should work on just about any vehicle. This what I did to install the audiovox 15" monitor/TV Tuner.

(This is the text...pictures can be found in the how-to forum posting)
Please comment if you want to try and i can give as much advice as possible.

01. Remove All Accessories Connected to Headliner
02. Remove Headliner Through Lift-Gate
03. Purchase Steel Rails from Home Depot (Hardware Isle)
04. Size and cut rails to the size of roof supports
05. Measure placement of ridges and drill holes to match size of screw
06. Use self-tapping metal screws (#8 or #10 at 3/8" should work well) to attach rails to roof
07. Create a "mock setup" of the rail holes found on the screen's mount on a piece of plywood to center your pilot holes. Depending on how many holes your screen requires, pre-drill anchor holes with the mock board to assure a centered install.
08. Once this is accomplished, route the supplied wires to a place you can work with (I chose to put them under the driver's side rear folding seat)
09. Replace the headliner
10. Replace headliner accessories except the center console if you have one.
11. Use a razor to cut out headliner that will not be exposed when the monitor covers it.
12. If you have a center roof console, clip the wires that go to the rear interior lights. Next, saw the center console's excess towards the rear up to the retaining clips. Trim the monitor's trim ring to allow the center console to enter it giving the overlapping look that says "it was meant to be there" and give it a clean look. A Dremel will work well for this.
13. Mount the center roof console with appropriate electrical connectors for the monitor's lights (make sure to get this right and test it before mounting the monitor)
14. Mount the monitor
15. Connect required cables that have been routed
16. If you have a monitor that happens to have a TV tuner, try to do this work all at the same time.
