I went wheeling this last weekand. Just as we were ariving to our destination we had our windows down. We noticed when you make a sharp turn (really notisable with your foot on the gas) you can hear a cliking sound coming from the right front side of the jeep. It sounds like the barrings in the steering components are shot. There was one point on the trail that I had to turn around and the left front tire was binding up???? When we crawled under the jeep both boot covers were poped off. I guess the steering joints are destroyed and its only a matter of time before they compleatly let go. What kind of steering joint does the tire spin on on a ZJ? What is involved with replacing one?
Thanks.

Is the black thing (CV axleshaft) torn/broken? Kiss that goodbye!

Can you upgrade the axleshafts in a D30 or should I just replace what I got? Depending on how much the axle shafts coast would it be worth it just to put a used D44 in?

In the Grand Tech sect6ion it has a write up on Dana 30 wheel bearing and hub assembly replacement... Could that also be my problem?

If the boots are gone, my money's on the shafts. But that writeup also tells you pretty much how to replace the axle shafts too.
