I was unhappy with my suspension the way it was so I decided to start over. Coilovers, OX locker, and 35 spline crome molly inner shafts up front. Spool, and 35 spline crome molly shafts in the rear.

COon A$$ is a person that lives in South Louisiana... Usually of Cajun decent...(Cajun means French Canadian) Last name Like Tibidoux Boudreau
Monceaux are a dead give away .. That you are dealing with a Coonass...

Think Water Boy... Assistant football Coach and Bobby Bouchea himself .

And Joe Dirt ."Home is where you Make it." Guy....

South Louisiana version of a Redneck...

Most of us are oddly proud of the fact that we are named after an animals backside... :?

Noone knows why...

Cajun is mispronouncation of Acadian and eventually was accepted into the English language. Nothing to do with French Canadian. I don't know who told you that, but they are wrong.

"Cajun n. A member of an ethnic population of South Louisiana descended from French exiles from Acadia. [alteration of Acadian]"

This is what the American Heritage dictionary say. Acadia is/was located in Eastern Canada and North East USA. Namely Main and Nova Scotia.

In my face... nah, we were both close. I am Acadian BTW.
Know those "crepes" you guys have? Well those used to be "ployes" which is kinda like a buckwheat pancake. Just the crepes are thinner. A Louisanna Cajun once upon a time was an Acadian.

First pic:
Does anyone think my brake caliper bracket will tear off? I am kind of nervous about that. There is no disk brake conversion kit for this 60. I bought the mounting "plates" and made them fit the easiest way possible. Then dug through Auto Zones brake rotors to find one with the correct back spacing.

The last pic:
In this pic you can see that the front arms are much longer than the rear (36" vs 42"). Those square arms will be cut and welded to make a rear shock hoop that will most likely go through the floor.

I just finished removing the rear upper spring perches (factory ones). I had to quite for the night. The mosquito's were kicking my @$$!! Tomorrow I have to figure out where and how to re-mount them.

Thanks again swampy.

No problem.. I think the brakes will be fine.. Keep up the good work..

Oh and make sure you get some good pics of the shock hoops I am giving that some serious thought I need long travel shocks but dont have the room for them.. SO thru the floor is the easiest way...

Reshard's ZJ
04-22-2005, 12:52 PM
Sorry Swampy, I have no clue.

GoingOffRoading. The upper control arms do bind at a certain point, but the coil springs fall out before any binding takes place. I will use my shocks as limiting straps so as I don't lose my springs. What do you mean by 4 link calc?

GoingOffRoading
04-22-2005, 01:30 PM
There's a couple calculators on POR that you download and run using excel... you input the length and location of the links and the calc spits out numbers for anti-squat, roll center and a ahndful of other things

Today I am trying to install the front coilovers. I think a shock hoop is the easiest way. Does someone have a better idea? Usually I would not ask for help, but with Grand Slam Southeast coming up I don't have time for pride. It has to be finished and tested, soon!!!

GoingOffRoading
05-28-2005, 12:09 PM
You might want to hit up "tommy" on MallCralwin.com (I don't know if that is his SN here), also "ROKNZJ". They both have coilovers and I am sure they could help you out.

I could be wrong but I think like .250 Dom bent like a shock hoop and then trussed to hell would work out ok.

Reshard's ZJ
05-28-2005, 04:52 PM
I am unsure of: A) Where to connect the hoops B) how and where to relocate the components that are on the finder wall.

The 5.2L engine is cramed in there with very little extra space.

this is how I moved my rear axle back 5 inches

Drilled out all those plug welds
http://www.nagca.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=39

Filled in all the holes with a mig, then grinded smooth
http://www.nagca.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=40

I cut the factory bracket and welded it in a peace of 4x6 angle iron. Two 1/2 inch bolts and some spot welds should hold these in place
http://www.nagca.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=41

Round tubing does look better

Not that you aren't quite busy enough as it is. Thanks.

It's no trouble. This is not a good set up however. If anything this can show you what not to do. The worst thing I did was leave the AC condenser exposed, and now it has a hole in it :banghead:

hey reshard, i'm guessing you made that front bumper yourself. i like it, nice and simple, yet functional. you dont by any chance have a sketch of that or blueprints or something you might have drawn up do you?

Jeep4x4nut

yea and tell us what not to do in that setup...besides the condensor...

Reshard's ZJ
08-07-2005, 01:50 AM
I don't know if you guy's can tell, but all I did was take the mounting plate that came with the winch, welded it to the front of the Jeep and then welded a peace of 1/4" plate under it (at an angle). If I were smarter I would have figured out a way to bolt it to the front of the Jeep. If I needed to remove this thing for some reason I would have to cut it off with plasma or grind for hours. So: A. Make sure condenser is protected B. bolt it on instead of welding it on

Jeep4x4nut

is that the harbor frieght winch for 299??i plan on buying that winch with the plate and do exactly what you did and turn the condensor sideways. ill finsih off the bumper as time goes on...and will bolt it to the frame rails with 2x4 steel. Thanks for the tips

Thanks for the tips

No problem!!

I wish I would have installed the hydroboost bake kit before I installed the shock hoops. I had to move my intire brake system. I shifted everything over about 3 1/2 inches.

A full hydro steering kit went in with the hydroboost kit. I know the steering cylinder is in the worst spot possible, but I don't have a tube bender (saving for a GOOD one) and If I pushed it up any more it hits the trac bar.
