Hello All -

I just picked up a new 2002 WJ Special Edition the other day, replacing my 99 WJ that I beat to a pulp. Before that I owned many XJs.

Since DC was handing out 7yr/100k warranties, should I assume that I won't be lifting my jeep for quite sometime to avoid killing the warranty?

What's the scoop with lifting during a warranty - is it all about the dealer, or has anyone got hosed?

Thanks :?

Only repairs that are caused as a result of your mods should be rejected for warranty work.

Check out http://www.treasurestate.com/diesel/mmwa.htm for details.

Of course, YMMV. DIfferent dealers will try to tell you your entire warranty is void due to a lift (happened to me just this week). The way I approached it was to tell them EXACTLY what was wrong and them asked them if a 4 inch suspension would void warranty work before I ever let them lay hands on it.

When I asked them to put it in writing (so I could report them to the BBB), they then told me to bring it in so they could look at it. Of course by then I had soured on that dealer (it took a day and a half just to get a call back). Called another dealer, their first response was "bring it by" and they promptly called the warranty holder who told them just what I said above. My WJ is sitting there waiting for them to work on it in the morning.
