I got a mostly stock 95' 5.2 and the catylitic is starting to rattle bad, so im taking it off, and was wondering what the pipe diamter on each side of the catylitic is, i tried to measure but i keep getting 2.38in.

Also does taking this off change the sound at all? Sound better or worse?

if u take the cat and muffler off it will be heard from a mile away or more...if u take the cat off and put the muffler back on or whatever u were gonna do, it will sound louder.

I used a piece of 2.5 pipe from AUtozone to replace my cat..
But It was only temporary.. I brought it to a muffler shop and had them weld it in..
No smog check here... Bye Bye Cat...

You do realize that is a federal offense, right?

sure do realize that, the worst that will happen is a fix-it ticket (around here at least), plus im not putting straight pipes on it, dont think it will be that loud

Actually its a fine since its a federal offense  Although, I "might" had done it back in the early 90's and gained 2-4mpg on a truck.
