I know there are a good few people using CBs and I will soon be getting one.
I was wondering if anyone also has theres set to a PA horn. if so where do you have it mounted and what set up do you have. My friend will sell me his radio shack CB and pa for $30 from his truck he rolled a couple weeks ago with everything but an antenna. should I go for it?
I really like the idea of the Cobra CB that is all in the handheld part but it doesn't seem to have a PA option. Not sure If I'll miss it that much. anyone use that Cobra CB. how do they compare to the radio shack CBs. I mean like how much better are they and in what ways.
sorry for all the questions but that for any help

I'm assuming you're talking about the 75WXST. Got that one. Nice concept for space impaired Jeeps such as WJ. That's about where the pros end. It is fine for occasional use, for prolonged usage, the thing is way too bulky. And heavy to boot. The stupid talk button is almost flush with the case so after a while your thumb goes numb. Reception wise - it stinks (tho probably no more than a Radio Shack CB). That SmartTraker or whatever that BS is called is a simple amplifier - too bad it amplifies the noise as well as the signal - conclusion: volume button does the same job. The volume and sql potentiometers do not like dust more so than any other radio I've used and after few trips they began trippin as well. A lot of scratching fading away and it is a major hassle to get the volume just right, or even turn it up/down so that you can actually hear anything. I cleaned it up real good and it is back to normal, but for how long - who knows. Channel scan is a cool feature if you're like me and get bored on long trips and look for some conversation on the highway as well as dual-channel monitoring and 4 channel memory buttons. All in all not worth the money they ask for it ($120-130). Ease of mounting and compactness is the only thing this radio has got going for it.
PA? No 75WXST doesn't have that feature. Honestly tho I have yet to be in a situation where it'd even cross my mind - man I could use some PA right about now. Then again once AAMC gets his WJ all pimped up I might install it to yell at him to get his sorry a$$ moving already and stop holding everyone back behind him.
SoCal-
Let's meet up one day and I can show you where I mounted my CB (Uniden PRO520XL blah blah something). I'm also planning on mounting a PA but haven't yet. Email me.

Jeepin..those are the same problems I was afraid of..I tihnk I'll just buy my friends set up for $30 for now at least.
about the PA. I actually have like 5 friends with them in different vehicles and we just use them to screw around..not for any real purpose but they can be a lot of fun sometimes

I have the uniden pro50 whatever, its pretty good radio, you have to manually change the channels and you can't do it on the handset which can be a ***** while driving but its not too bad. The radio is really small so it fits pretty nicely and the reception isn't too bad. Hey Jeepin Wolf, there was a Radio Shack Radio that was liek 30 bucks that came with a PA speaker cause my friend got one but he got the only one they had and I asked them about it and they didn't know what I was talking about but I know where he got it from cause he showed me the receipt, radio shack people can be dumb. Oh well.
Good luck, is this the same as AIM: SoCalPyroPunk?
Just wondering.
